Production blog - Iron Man Helmet

Posted on March 24th, 2011 @ 00:00:00 by Fulvio Pannese

After realizing that I don't want to spend too much time on making weekly videos, I decided to make Production videos to show you what I'm working on and the progresses I'm making.

I apologize to my english friends, but the videos will be in italian, since I need to talk as smoothly as I'm able to and using english, that wouldn't be possible.

In this video I'm talking about the fixes I applied on my three-pieces Iron Man Helmet and you can find their description in the previous post.
Thanks for watching!

What I'm working on

Posted on March 22nd, 2011 @ 00:00:00 by Fulvio Pannese

It's been quite a bit since my last post on this site and I apologize.
Unfortunately, in a burst of enthusiasm, I promised to post a video every week but, wanting to do things properly, I realized that the reality is quite different. Unfortunately, to make a video as I want to do it, it takes two days. One to shoot, one to edit.

Right now, I can't afford to use my time on the videos, especially if I want to get something out of all this thing I'm doing.

But let me update you about what I'm doing.

1. IRON MAN HELMET
After deciding that the molds of the three-piece Iron Man helmet were not good enough for casting, I decided to get rid of them and get back on the master:
  • The sides were rounded right next to the back of the helmet.
  • The ears have been rebuilt from scratch and thanks to my new tools they came out perfect.
  • The closing between the faceplate and the rest of the helmet is now identical to the original. The little edge between the forehead of the helmet and the faceplate is not anymore.
  • I fixed several irregularities on the sides and on the faceplates.

Plus, I'm planning to redo all the nuts and bolts and to make different teeth.

2. 3. PEGASUS SAINT SEIYA
I'm doing the full armor of Pegasus from Saint Seiya with Prop-quality in mind. Most of the pieces will be forex made, while others will be done using modeling clay / plasticine. During this build, I also worked with expanded polystyrene (new material to me) and the clay NSP (No Sulfur Plasteline) of Chavant.

3. 3. THOR HELMET
I started building a universal dome that will function as base for several projects, including the helmet of THOR, now being graphically studied.

These are the main projects which I am focusing right now and I hope to show them to you as soon as possible.
Stay tuned!

week 2 - Forex/Sintra

Posted on February 8th, 2011 @ 00:00:00 by Fulvio Pannese

This video talks about Forex/Sintra.
I'm showing the different type/thicknesses you can find and the way you work with forex.

I didn't show advanced techniques because video get too long and people get bored. So I'll make another video in the upcoming weeks to explain some of these techniques.

Forex can be cut with a regular cutter or x-acto knife (which I prefer for handling) and can be glues with some regular multi-purpose glue like the one in the video. Forex can also be bent once is warmed up.

In order to shape forex you'll need a heat gun and you need to do this very carefully since too much heat will cause forex to burn.

There are a lot of things you can do with forex, a lot of patience and the help of some other materials, like putties and fillers, which I'll be talking about next week!
